Ensuring Quality Construction and Code Compliance

Building a Safer and Code-Compliant Morrilton

Welcome to the Planning Department, where we take pride in fostering safe, code-compliant construction practices that protect and enhance the quality of life of Morrilton’s residents and the community at large. Our dedicated team, led by Chief Building Inspector Greg Woodard and supported by Code Enforcement Officer Cesar Torres, plays a crucial role in upholding building, zoning, and code regulations.

Comprehensive Code Interpretation and Compliance

We are your go-to resource for addressing queries related to building, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical code interpretations. We assist both contractors and the general public in navigating complex regulations concerning lot splits, floodplains, special use permits, zoning requests, and variances. Our mission is to ensure that construction and zoning policies are not just understood but meticulously followed.

The Planning Department provides:

A quartz mine at Mount Ida. There are a few people walking or kneeling in the clay and there is a yellow Komatsu vehicle with a long front scooping arm and a flatbed utility truck.

Code Interpretations

Responding to inquiries and providing clarity on building, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical codes.

A shot of the Rialto and Rialto Gallery from across the empty street. The Rialto has retro letter boards and lit signs. The gallery beside it is a square gray building, and the Rialto itself is brown with red brick and accents.

Zoning Assistance

Guiding through lot splits, floodplains, special use permits, zoning requests, and variances.

A wooden cabin at Petit Jean State Park. The cabin is made of dark wood and has a large stone chimney on the right side. Steep stairs can be seen leading down from the back deck of the cabin. There are trees surrounding the cabin and a gas lamp by the front door.

Blueprint Reviews

Ensuring commercial and industrial blueprints comply with codes and regulations.

Two firefighters in yellow coats and hard hats standing in tall prairie grass while smoke rises from the area behind them.

Quality Control

Monitoring building activity and permit issuance for both residential and commercial projects.
