The Arkansas Graveler is Coming Through Morrilton

There’s something special about gravel roads. Maybe it’s the sound of your tires crunching along a scenic path. Or the way the sunlight filters through the trees as you climb a quiet hill. Or maybe it’s just the thrill of taking the road less traveled—and in Morrilton, we’ve got plenty of those.

This June, Morrilton will once again welcome riders from all over the country for the Arkansas Graveler, a multi-day gravel cycling event where riders experience the natural beauty, grit, and charm of our state.

The Bigfoot Route Rolls Through Morrilton

This year’s event features a 1,000+ mile route divided into seven stages, and Morrilton is right in the middle of it all. The 2025 “Bigfoot” route brings cyclists through our neck of the woods on Stage 6, weaving riders along the historic, winding gravel roads of the Arkansas River Valley.

What makes this stretch so remarkable? It’s the kind of ride where every turn is postcard-worthy— green rolling hills, wide-open pastures, shady tree canopies, and glimpses of Petit Jean Mountain in the distance. It’s not uncommon to spot deer darting across a field, and if you’re lucky, you might even get a glimpse of a bald eagle overhead.

It’s no wonder folks say that once you ride in the River Valley, you’ll want to keep coming back.

Gravel That’s Actually Great to Ride

Not all gravel roads are created equal—and that’s a good thing for Arkansas. Around here, gravel means rideable, challenging, and fun. Our roads offer a variety of terrain: smooth stretches for speed, loose rock for testing your skills, and the occasional steep climb that reminds you why you trained so hard in the first place.

The Graveler team carefully selects routes that are rugged enough to feel like an adventure but well-maintained enough to enjoy the ride (and your bike’s suspension). Riders can expect solid roads, minimal traffic, and a chance to feel completely off the grid without being too far from help—or snacks.

Small-Town Hospitality, Big-Time Scenery

One of the things that sets the Arkansas Graveler apart from other gravel events is the way it weaves through real towns like Morrilton—places where folks wave as you ride by and volunteers show up early to hand out water and cheer you on.

We’re proud to be a part of this event because it lets us show off what makes our town so special. It’s the people, the stories, the sense of community you feel when you roll into town and someone greets you by name. Everywhere you go, you’ll find folks here are happy to help.

Stay Awhile—You’ll Want To

If you’re coming in for the ride, we highly recommend sticking around a little longer. Explore the trails at Petit Jean State Park, just a short drive away, or stretch your legs with a stroll through Sullivan Park or City Park. Visit the local shops downtown, enjoy a meal at one of our family-owned restaurants, or enjoy a dip in our community pool! The pool is located in the Community Center at 1307 E Harding St. and will be open for the season starting Memorial Day weekend!

Oh, and if you’re really feeling adventurous? There are caves to explore, walking trails to wander, and plenty of spring color to take in—leaf peeping isn’t just for fall.

See You on the Gravel

The Arkansas Graveler is the kind of event that brings out the best of Arkansas, and Morrilton is proud to be part of it.

We’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines. And if you’re not racing? Come out anyway. It’s a great excuse to get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and be part of something pretty amazing.
