Every year across Conway County, thousands of students hear the same message: go to school, stay committed, set big goals, and give it your all. That’s the heart of the School Counts initiative—a program that supports K–12 students and graduates as they work toward college and career readiness, with a special emphasis on attending UACCM.
Why School Counts Matters
Launched in 2006, School Counts has become a cornerstone of our community’s education and workforce development efforts. The program instills four powerful core values in students:
- Quality – always do your best (GPA 2.5+).
- Persistence – complete what you start.
- Attendance – stay present (95% or better).
- Goal-setting – prepare for college by filing FAFSA early.
Students who meet these requirements earn a $250 scholarship after high school and can take concurrent college courses at UACCM—at no cost. That means qualifying students can walk across the high school stage knowing they’re already halfway through their college journey!
Real Impact from Real People
Year after year, more than 3,400 students—from kindergarten through senior year—hear about School Counts, and over 1,075 students have graduated with its honors. To date, more than $1.1 million has been invested in our community’s youth.
Just two months ago, 135 Conway County seniors were recognized as 2025 School Counts graduates—an inspiring testament to hard work and community support.
How You Can Keep the Momentum Going
When you support School Counts, you’re not just giving money, you’re opening doors. That might mean a student earning a technical certificate in welding, HVAC, or mechanics before graduation. It might mean someone avoiding student debt by getting a head start on college credits. It definitely means building a better future for Conway County.
Already, this initiative is strengthening our local workforce, boosting incomes, and fueling economic development. But there’s always room to grow, and that means your support matters.
